Here you can find what happened during FSMI protests in Pune and it clearly shows the government's apathy towards free speech and expression. http://fsmi.in/content/press-release-condemn-disruption-protest-hooligansin-pune With this we want to draw your attention towards ITU which by now has become the global phenomena regarding privacy and surveillance in the internet. It can easily be assumed what can happen or has already happened behind closed doors in Dubai where the government bodies decided about regulating the internet. There are many reports yet to come but for now it is a known fact that Deep Packet Inspection has already been passed in the resolution. It adds an extra layer in monitoring the connection of one's internet. More about it can be found below: https://www.pcworld.com/article/249137/what_is_deep_packet_inspection_.html More regarding ITU can be found here http://tinyurl.com/7268yjv

Global Journalist: India's press freedom problems India ranks abysmally low at 133 among 180 countries in the latest annual World Press Freedom Index, which says Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems “indifferent” to the threats against journalists. The 2016 ‘World Press Freedom Index’ released by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is led by Finland, which retained its top spot for the sixth consecutive year, followed by Netherlands and Norway. India jumped three spots from the 136th position it had in 2015. “Journalists and bloggers are attacked and anathematised by various religious groups that are quick to take offense,” the report said. At the same time, it is hard for journalists to cover regions such as Kashmir that are regarded as sensitive by the government, it said. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems indifferent to these threats and problems, and there is no mechanism for protecting journalists,” the report said. “Instead, in a desire to increase control of media coverage, Modi envisages opening a journalism university run by former propaganda ministry officials,” it alleged, without substantiating what it refers to. Among India’s neighbouring countries, Pakistan ranks 147, Sri Lanka (141), Afghanistan (120), Bangladesh (144), Nepal (105) and Bhutan (94). China is ranked 176. The United States is ranked 44th and Russia is placed at the 148th place. The report shows that there has been a deep and disturbing decline in respect for media freedom at both the global and regional levels. Caught on Tape: Political Party Activists Ransack Indian Newsroom http://www.indianexpress.com/news/mrs/544428/ In the name of their Boss, Sena goons attack IBN TV channels Nov 21, 2009 A MOB of Shiv Sainiks attacked and vandalised the offices of Hindi and Marathi TV news channels IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat in Mumbai and Pune on Friday for what they said was criticism of the party and its chief Bal Thackeray after his recent comments against cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, returning to its traditional brand of violent politics in the aftermath of its poor show in the Assembly elections. About 25 party activists barged into the common office of the two channels in suburban Vikhroli in the financial capital, armed with baseball bats, cricket stumps and iron rods. They broke glass facades, office equipment and assaulted some employees before fleeing the spot. In Pune, they attacked the outdoor broadcast van of the channels and damaged it, police said. Witnesses in Mumbai said the attackers shouted that they would not accept any criticism or reports criticising the Shiv Sena. They also called out for IBN Lokmats Editor-in-Chief Nikhil Wagle and manhandled him before the channels employees clashed with the attackers and detained three of them in the melee. Police said they had arrested seven Shiv Sainiks and were looking for more. A sports editor and a graphic artist injured in the attack were admitted to hospital, IBN said.
